IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE U.S. DISTRICT COURT - DISTRICT OF NEBRASKA

Thursday, November 10, 2005

Members of the Bar,

The U.S. District Court Clerk's Office wishes to bring several important matters to your attention.

On October 28, 2005, the Nebraska Judicial Council:

Agreed that when a case is referred to mediation, all pending motions will be automatically denied without prejudice to refiling. A General Order has been drafted and will be posted to the Internet Web site.

Approved the proposed amendments to the Local Rules and the revised Civil and Criminal Administrative Procedures. Following the close of a 30-day comment period, the Local Rules amendments will be sent to the Eighth Circuit for approval. The rules and procedures, along with a summary of the revised administrative procedures, are available on our Web site at http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/localrules/index.html.

Adopted a General Order allowing the clerk's office to enter text-only strike orders for incorrect PDF documents filed in CM/ECF. General Order 2005-19 is available on our Web site at http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/pom/orders/index.html.

Approved the clerk's office request to close at 4:30 p.m. rather than 4:45 p.m. The clerk's office will change its hours on December 5, 2005. With this change, all district and bankruptcy court agencies will be open for business during the same hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Agreed that redaction requests should be filed under seal instead of mailed to the court reporter or transcriptionist. The redaction requests will be available to attorneys and parties in the case. For more information, please read the Notice/Instructions to the Bar regarding Electronic Availability of Civil and Criminal Transcripts at http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/pom/index.html

If you have any questions, please contact the Clerk's Office at (402) 661-7350.

Thank you,
United States District Court Clerk's Office
