1. Administrative Filing Fee
 
At its September 2012 meeting, the Judicial Conference of the United States Courts approved a $50 administrative fee for all new civil cases filed in the United States District Court. The fee will not be assessed in cases where the party proceeds in forma pauperis. The new fee takes effect May 1. The miscellaneous fee schedule is found on the court's Web page at www.ned.uscourts.gov/fees.
 
2. Continuing Legal Education
 
The Federal Practice Committee will sponsor a continuing legal education session on federal immigration law on May 31 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hruska Courthouse in Omaha. Attorneys may register for the session on the court's Web site at www.ned.uscourts.gov/attorney/continuing-legal-education.
 
3. Wireless Internet
 
The Federal Practice Committee has approved the procurement and installation of wireless Internet in Omaha and Lincoln courthouses using Federal Practice funds. Once installed, the wireless will cover all courtrooms, the bankruptcy trustee, and the U.S. Marshal's attorney interview rooms.
 

4. Federal Public Defender Furlough Days

Because of the federal budget sequestration, employees of the Federal Public Defender's Office will be furloughed and the Omaha and Lincoln offices closed on the following days: May 3, 17, 24; June 14, 28; July 5, 19; and August 2,16, 30.
