Modified Filing Procedures for Highly Sensitive Documents

Thursday, January 7, 2021

The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts provided notice yesterday afternoon of serious security vulnerabilities in CM/ECF that greatly risk compromising highly sensitive non-public documents stored on CM/ECF, particularly sealed filings. An apparent compromise of the confidentiality of the CM/ECF system due to these discovered vulnerabilities is under investigation.

We do not know whether or to what extent this impacted the District and Bankruptcy Court of Nebraska. However, the Administrative Office called upon courts to implement new security procedures to protect highly sensitive documents (HSDs). The court will post new procedures as soon as possible for the limited types of documents that meet the definition of HSDs.
