September 20, 2019
The Nebraska Federal Practice Committee will sponsor a continuing legal education program on September 20, 2019, entitled, "Echo of Its Time: A History of the Federal District Court of Nebraska." The presentation will be held at the Grand Manse in Lincoln, Nebraska, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
This program will explore the development of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska from its inception in 1867 through 1933. Co-authors of the book “Echo of Its Time,” Dr. John R. Wunder (UN-L) and Dr. Mark R. Scherer (UN-O), will discuss the social and political context of the most notable cases of the era. Further, the Honorable Laurie Smith Camp, with her unique expertise and perspective, will discuss the Dennison machine and the court’s role in bringing an end to that era in Omaha history. See the attached book review by Judge Smith Camp for a preview of the topics to be covered.
This program qualifies for 1.5 CLE credit hours.
Immediately following the event there will be a reception with drinks and light snacks, open to all members of the bar.
