STROM, ) JUDGE WILLIAM G. CAMBRIDGE ) and JUDGE THOMAS M. SHANAHAN ) On December 1, 1993 the Federal rules of Civil Procedure were amended. According to the order of transmittal to the Congress, they are to be applied to all civil cases pending on that day "insofar as just and practicable." In accord with that directive, IT IS ORDERED: 1. Those cases filed after January 1, 1994 will be governed entirely by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure as amended December 1, 1993; 2. those cases which will be tried before May 1, 1994 will continue to be governed entirely by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure in effect November 30, 1993, as modified by the progression order; 3. Cases pending on January 1, 1994 which will be tried on or after May 1, 1994 will be governed by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure as amended December 1, 1993, except that counsel by joint stipulation or motion may apply to the court for relief from specific sections of the amended rules upon a showing that application of the rules would be unjust and impracticable.
