IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF NEBRASKA IN THE MATTER OF ) DUTY STATION AND ABODE OF ) UNITED STATES DISTRICT JUDGE ) RICHARD G. KOPF )GENERAL ORDER 93- 07 ) ) The district of Nebraska has four authorized positions for United States District Judge. Three of such positions have been filled, and there remains a fourth vacancy. The least senior United States District Judge is Richard G. Kopf. On or about April 3, 1992, the President of the United States nominated United States Magistrate Judge Richard G. Kopf to be a United States district Judge for the District of Nebraska, specifying that Magistrate Judge Kopf was to succeed the Honorable Warren K. Urbom, Senior United States District Judge. Judge Urbom's place of abode and duty station was Lincoln, Nebraska, and Judge Kopf's place of abode and duty station as a magistrate judge was Omaha, Nebraska. Magistrate Judge Kopf's nomination was confirmed by the United States Senate on or about May 21, 1992. On May 26, 1992, the President of the United States issued Judge Kopf's Commission as a United States District Judge, and Judge Kopf took the oath of office as a United States District Judge that same date without a break in service. Inasmuch as it appears the fourth United States District Judge may be appointed in the relative near future, it is in the interests of the Government, and not primarily for the convenience of Judge Kopf, that he assume his duty station in Lincoln, Nebraska, and maintain his place of abode at or near Lincoln, Nebraska. Accordingly, and with all active district judges having agreed, 28 U.S.C. 134(c). IT IS ORDERED that United States District Judge Richard G. Kopf, shall assume his duty station in Lincoln, Nebraska, and maintain his place of abode at or near Lincoln, Nebraska as soon as reasonably possible. DATED: FEBRUARY 23 , 1993.
