Nominated by Dwight D. Eisenhower on June 21, 1956, to a seat vacated by James A. Donohoe. Confirmed by the Senate on July 2, 1956, and received commission on July 3, 1956. Served as chief judge, 1957-1972. Assumed senior status on January 7, 1972. Service terminated on January 28, 1991, due to death.
