Perform routine work in cleaning and general upkeep of NCTA campus buildings and outdoor spaces. Scrub, strip, refinish and polish floors using heavy industrial-type powered scrubbing and buffing machines. Vacuum and clean carpets using industrial-type vacuum cleaners and carpet extractors. Mix cleaning solution per instruction. Collect and dispose of refuse requiring heavy physical efforts. Remove snow and ice from steps of immediate building area(s). Move objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more while moving furniture or setting up tables and chairs for special events. Hours: 11:00 pm – 7:30 am. Must be flexible to work during other employee leave absences on a rotating basis and weekends as may be assigned. Required: Eighth grade education required. Ability to follow oral and written instructions necessary. Must have the ability to understand cleaning chemicals and their application and dilution ratios. Building Systems Technician  (S_150287)

Perform all phases of general and aesthetic maintenance. Duties include: assisting all trade leads on tasks and projects related to the renovation and preservation of UNL buildings; assisting with layout of walls, framing walls, and erecting walls; installing wall and floor coverings; hanging pictures, blackboards, whiteboards, maps, cabinets, shelves, doors, and windows; assisting with small construction projects involving masonry and concrete; and replacing ceiling tiles. Coordinate assignments and work orders with maintenance personnel. Maintain accurate records and documentation. Other duties as assigned. Must be available 24/7 by cell phone to assist in campus emergencies. Required: High school education plus one year of previous employment required; equivalency considered. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Good judgment in making decisions, asking for help, bringing forward problems, and communicating with others, and working around moving machinery and electricity. Building Mechanic II (7:30am-4:00pm, M-F)  (S_150277)

Maintain, repair, replace and perform new installations on building architectural, mechanical and utility systems; i.e., plumbing, HVAC, hardware, furniture, doors, fixtures, etc. Assist Building Mechanic III with repairs regarding major mechanical systems and dining service equipment. Shares responsibility in monitoring the building energy management system. Provides various levels of skills pertaining to planning, research and design relating to new and replacement maintenance projects. Participates in the supervision of student workers. Maintains compliance with current State and Federal codes and regulations including EPA, OSHA, plumbing, etc. Maintains records and reports, read schematics, construction prints and manuals as needed. Hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. plus on-call as required by Facilities Manager. This position is considered essential to our operation. Required: High school diploma plus four years’ experience in relevant trades field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of how mechanical and architectural systems function, including the ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings, manuals and mechanical diagrams. Must demonstrate the ability to perform journeyman level skills in one or more of the trades i.e. plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, etc. Must demonstrate the ability to train and direct student staff. Responsibilities include: checking for correct parking permits and directing traffic at assigned parking lots prior to and during events for the Nebraska Athletic Department. Linen Worker I

The Linen Worker I prepares linen and linen orders for delivery to clients.  Preparation includes hand folding linens and operating various laundry processing equipment as well as inspecting items for holes, stains and other linen imperfections.  This position works in the tumble fold, ironer, tie machines and surgical inspection areas.

  • Productivity standards are required to be met
  • Safety training, procedures, and policies are required to be met

Physical Activity:

  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force
