Food - Holiday Meals and Assistance Programs

Heartland Family Service-Holiday Assistance Programs

Adopt-A-Family Program, Toy distribution, and meals available to current Heartland Family Service clients. Clients must dign up for these services through an Heartland Family Service staff member.

Heartland Hope Mission (formerly Mission for All Nations)

5210 South 21st Street - 733-2077:  Provides a special Thanksgiving pantry that includes a 7 day supply of food and food appropriate to make a Thanksgiving meal. For Christmas, a party is held which includes food and family activities. Parents receive a bag of toys and gift wrap to give gifts to their children.

Open Door Mission - Timberlake Outreach Center

2107 East Locust - (402) 422-1111 extension 1517: Offers seasonal preventive programs including Back to School Bash, Great Thanksgiving Banquet, Turkey 'N Fixins, Super Duper Give Away and Project Santa.

The Salvation Army - Material Assistance & Seasonal Services (MASS)
3612 Cuming Street - (402) 898-5860: The Material Assistance & Seasonal Services (MASS) program provides Thanksgiving meal deliveries and Christmas programs including Adopt-a-Family and Toyland.

Broadway Christian Church-Council Bluffs

2658 Avenue A, Council Bluffs - (712) 323-7741: Free hot, home-cooked meals offered on Wednesday evenings from 5:00PM to 6:00PM.

Heart Ministry Center-Sack Lunch Program

2222 Binney Street - 451-2321:  Provides sack lunches with a sandwich, 2 snacks, and a bottled water Monday-Friday from 11:00AM-12:00PM. There are no requirements to receive a lunch other than being present.

Holy Family Catholic Church - Door Ministry

1715 Izard Street - 341-6561:  Food pantry available Monday through Thursday from 9:00AM - 12:00PM. Free lunch program also available Sunday through Friday. Sandwiches and packed lunches are given out Sundays beginning at 11:15AM and Monday through Thursdy beginning at 9:00AM.  Call for information.


MOHM'S Place - Council Bluffs

1435 North 15th Street, Council Bluffs - (712) 256-3940: Meals provided nightly to anyone who is hungry from 5:00PM to 6:30PM.  Continental breakfast also available from 8:00AM to 9:00PM.

Open Door Mission - Hot Lunch

2705 North 20th Street East - (402) 829-1521: Hot lunch served Monday through Friday.  Call for current time schedule.

Siena/Francis House - Meal Provider Program

1702 Nicholas Street - (402) 341-1821: Provides daily meals to those in need including breakfast, brunch on Sundays and major holidays, mi-day lunch and snacks, and evening dinner.

Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church

5616 L Street (Operating out of the Liberty Christian Center) - The pantry is open on the 2nd and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 10:00AM to 12:00PM.

Bellevue Human Services - Food Pantry

204 West Mission Avenue - (402) 293-3138: Bellevue residents in need of the food assistance can call to make an appointment to receive a food pantry referral.  Once a referral is obtained, the food bags can be picked up from the local distribution site from 10:00am – 4:00pm; Monday – Friday.  The pantry can provide nonperishable food items and vouchers for perishable food items to be used at the grocery store as much as the donations/guidelines can allow.

Benson Baptist Church

6319 Maple Street - 551-1512:  Non-perishable food pantry available on the last Saturday of every month from 9:00AM-12:00PM.

Care and Share House-Food Pantry

1808 5th Avenue and 600 South Main Street, Council Bluffs - 712-323-4889:  Food pantry available to anyone who has not received help from a Council Bluffs food pantry in the last 30 days. The 5th Avenue location is open Monday 9:30AM-12:00PM and Thursday 9:00AM-12:00PM. The Main Street location is open Monday and Wednesday 5:30PM-7:30PM. Catholic Charities - Juan Diego Center

5211 S. 31st Street - 731-5413:  Emergency food pantry, perishable daily food distribution, and share food buying. Requires a social security card for each household member, photo ID, and mail postmarked within the last 30 days in your name (PO Boxes not accepted). Individuals may receive food once every 60 days. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:30AM-11:30AM and Wednesday from 4:00PM-6:00PM.

Catholic Charities - St. Martin de Porres

2417 Burdette Street - 341-4004:  Emergency food pantry, perishable daily food distribution, and share food buying. Requires a social security card for each household member, photo ID, and mail postmarked within the last 30 days in your name (PO Boxes not accepted). Individuals may receive food once every 30 days. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00AM-1:00PM and the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:00AM-12:00PM.

Community of Christ Thrift Store and Food Pantry - Council Bluffs

17 North 2nd, Council Bluffs - (712) 328-8122:  Food pantry available by appointment, Monday through Friday 9:00AM to 11:00AM.  Access to the pantry is limited to once every 30 days.

Countryside Community Church - Community Cupboard

8787 Pacific - 391-0350:  Food pantry held the first Saturday of every month.  Pantry is open from 10:00AM to 12:00PM.  The church staff recommends arriving by 9:00 as supplies are limited and lines form early in the morning.  Identification or a recent utility bill with a current Omaha address is required.

FaithWorks Pantry Place

4829 Oaks Lane - (402) 895-3394: Food pantry for low income families and those in need.  Available with photo id and proof of address once every 30 days.  The pantry is open every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 5PM - 7PM and every 4th Saturday of the month from 10AM - 12PM.

First Baptist Church - Council Bluffs

540 1st Avenue, Council Bluffs - Food pantry available Mondays and Tuesdays from 10AM to 12PM.
