Our services include, but are not limited to, Pre-Purchase Education, Individual Housing Counseling, Budget Counseling, and Post-Purchase Counseling.

In the Pre-Purchase workshop, you learn about becoming a homeowner, gain confidence about the process, and understand maintaining your home. We cover the above topics in the workshop and/or one-on-one counseling.  www.fhasinc.org

Omaha Housing Authority (OHA)

540 South 27th Street - 444-6900:  Public, Senior, and Section 8 Housing in Omaha. OHA has strict criminal history regulations based on the type of offense and length of time passed. Detailed information is available on the OHA website under Public Documents. www.ohauthority.org

Housing - Transitional

New Hope Life Center - Women's Transitional Living

(402) 345-4673: The New Hope Life Center for Women offers a six month minimum program commitment which addresses focused physical, mental, emotional and spiritual programming for residents.  The transitional living program is for adult females age 19 and over who have addiction issues and have completed an alcohol or drug treatment program.  More information on the program and the residency requirements is available on the website.  www.newlifehopecenters.com

Restored Hope

2316 Howard Street - 345-7306:  Faith based transitional living facility for single mothers. Provides help to homeless and at-risk women to become stable, productive, spiritually grounded individuals with a renewed sense of self worth and a positive outlook on their future. 1616 Cass Street - (402) 345-8047: Together issues vouchers for state identification cards and certified birth certificates needed for employment, housing, banking, school, and benefits.  To receive assistance, you will need a photo id, social security card for everyone living in your house, and a current piece of mail dated within the last 30 days.  If you do not have these items, ask to speak with a case manager to assist you.  www.togetheromaha.org

Creighton University - Milton R. Abrahams Legal Clinic

2500 California Plaza - (402) 280-3068:  Free legal assistance on civil matters for low income residents of Douglas County. Civil matters may include child support and child custody, divorce, wills and trusts, and landlord/tenant issues. www.creighton.edu/law/clinics

Iowa Legal Aid

(800) 532-1275 - Older Iowans (age 60 and over) (800) 992-8161: Iowa Legal Aid is a nonprofit organization providing critical legal assistance in civil matters to low-income and vulnerable Iowans who have nowhere else to turn.  Along with volunteer lawyers throughout the state, Iowa Legal Aid helps the legal system work for those who cannot afford help with legal issues.  Services may be available in areas of child support, custody, visitation, divorce, domestic violence, guardianship, landlord/tenant issues, foreclosure, home ownership, discrimination, sexual harassment, consumer issues, public benefits, aging issues, taxes, disability, disaster relief, health, individual rights, veterans' issues, retirement, and resources for new Iowans.  www.iowalegalaid.org

Legal Aid of Nebraska

1904 Farnam, Suite 500 - (402) 348-1069 - Outside of Douglas County (877) 250-2016 - Elder Access Line (age 60 and over) (800) 527-7249 - Native American Access Line (800) 729-9908: Legal Aid of Nebraska provides assistance to low-income and elderly people in civil matters. Eligibility for assistance may be based on income and assets of all members of the household and the legal problem.  Legal Aid of Nebraska does not handle criminal matters in state or federal court, personal injury or workers’ compensation cases. Legal Aid of Nebraska’s legal services are free; however, clients may be responsible for court costs.  Legal Aid may be able to assist in the in the areas of divorce, custody, child support, protection orders, guardianship, bankruptcy, collections, garnishments, landlord/tenant rights, foreclosure, home ownership, SSDI, SSI, public benefits, unemployment benefits, Medicaid, Medicare, and wills.  www.legalaidofnebraska.com

Council Bluffs Community Health Center

300 West Broadway, Suite 6, Council Bluffs - (712) 325-1990: Provides comprehensive medical services, radiology services, mental health services, and prenatal care on a sliding scale fee basis.  Also provides pharmacy services and access to medication assistance programs for Center patients.  Call to schedule an appointment.  www.councilbluffshealthcenter.com

Heart Ministry Center

2222 Binney Street - 451-2321:  Walk in clinic available on Wednesdays from 9:00AM-1:00PM. A nurse practitioner from Creighton University is available to treat acute health care problems at no cost. www.heartministrycenter.org

Methodist Health System - Renaissance Health Clinic

3612 Cuming Street (In the Salvation Army Lied Renaissance Center) - (402) 354-3198: Nurse practitioners available by appointment or on a first come, first served basis to provide health care services for men, women, and adolescents including physical exams, treatment of minor and chronic health problems, pop smears, brest and pelvic exams, pregnancy testing, menopause, PMS, and osteoporosis treatment and counseling, health education, family planning services, adolescent routine care, STD testing and treatment, school, sports, and camp physicals, and treatment for victims of domestic abuse.  Some services may require a $25 copay.  Sliding scale fees available for individuals without insurance.  Open Monday through Friday.  www.bestcare.org

One World Community Health Center
