Maximum PDF File Size

Tuesday, August 16, 2016

The District of Nebraska has increased the file size limit for PDF documents filed in its Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system from 10 MB to 35 MB. The new larger limit should reduce the need to split large documents or exhibits into multiple parts for filing.

When filing multiple PDF attachments in a single filing, we recommend keeping the aggregate size of all PDF attachments to 100 MB or less to avoid errors caused by the connection timing out before all attachments are uploaded. The exact amount that can be uploaded in a single transaction will vary depending on individual connection speeds and network traffic at the time. Our testing shows that an aggregate 100 MB filing will upload successfully, even on a slow connection.

Please review the Filing Attachments procedure on the court's web site at http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/attorney/electronic-case-filing#procedures, if you have any questions about filing attachments.

Thank you,
