Important Information from the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska

The United States District Court for the District of Nebraska wishes to bring several important matters to your attention.

1. CM/ECF Version 3.2

The court will go live on CM/ECF Version 3.2 on May 12. The most significant change in this version is a ninety-day restriction on remote electronic access to filed transcripts. Because the restriction period affects the ability of counsel of record to review a transcript for redaction purposes, attorneys are strongly urged to review the new transcript redaction procedure located on the court's Web page at http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/cmecf/. This change to the transcript redaction procedure will take effect on May 12.

2. Judicial Council Decisions

The Judicial Council took the following actions at its April 25, 2008, meeting: a. Agreed that proposed revisions to the local rules will be submitted annually at the January Judicial Council meeting. b. Approved the Courtroom Technology Strategic Upgrade/Replacement Plan and the Courtroom Technology Training Plan. 3. Electronic Writs

General Order No. 2008-04 "IN THE MATTER OF ISSUANCE OF CRIMINAL WARRANTS, SUMMONSES, SUBPOENAS, AND WRITS" was entered on February 27, 2008, and is located on the court's Web site at http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/pom/orders/index.html. General Order No. 2008-04 gives the clerk's office authority to sign, seal, and issue criminal warrants, summonses, subpoenas, and writs electronically. Such electronically-issued warrants, summonses, subpoenas, and writs may not, however, be served electronically. This General Order rescinds GO 2007-18.

4. Proposed Order Regarding Motion for Sentence Reduction (AO247)

A fillable PDF form for a Proposed Order Regarding Motion for Sentence Reduction (AO247) pursuant to 18 U.S.C. ?? 3582(c)(2) is available on the court's Web site at www.ned.uscourts.gov/forms. Parties are encouraged to use this form when proposing an order regarding a motion for sentence reduction pursuant to 18 U.S.C. ?? 3582(c)(2).

5. CM/ECF Training

Classroom training on CM/ECF will be held at the Omaha courthouse on May 20 and the Lincoln courthouse on May 21. Interested parties should sign up on the training calendar located on the court's training page at http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/cmecf/training.html. The training page also has numerous on-line training modules.

6. Courtroom Technology Virtual Tours

Virtual tours of the technology available in the district's courtrooms, including digital recording, are available at http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/tech/.

7. Revised Rule 26(f) Planning Conference Report

The magistrate judges have revised the form for the parties' Rule 26(f) planning conference report. See http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/forms/.
