On October 21, the Judicial Council approved amendments to the local rules, with an effective date of December 1, 2016. To comment on the amendments, go to http://www.ned.uscourts.gov/internetDocs/localrules/summary_2016_amendme.... Comments should be posted by November 25.

Counsel should make special note of changes to NECivR 6.1 and NECrimR 45.1, which were amended to conform to changes to the Federal Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure. The changes eliminate the three additional days to respond when service is performed by electronic means. These changes to the application of the three-day rule will result in situations where parties in a case have different response deadlines depending on the manner in which they are served.
