IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF NEBRASKA IN RE: ) ) DUTY STATION AND ABODE ) OF UNITED STATES DISTRICT ) JUDGE THOMAS M. SHANAHAN )GENERAL ORDER 94- 13 ) The District of Nebraska has four authorized positions for United States District Judge. These four positions have now been filled. The least senior United States District Judge is Thomas M. Shanahan. In August of 1993, the President of the United States nominated Thomas M. Shanahan to be a United States District Judge for the District of Nebraska, specifying that Judge Shanahan fill the position created by the Biden Bill of 1990. Judge Shanahan's place of abode was Lincoln, Nebraska. Judge Shanahan's nomination was confirmed by the United States Senate on November 22, 1993. The President of the United States issued Judge Shanahan's commission as a United States District Judge, and Judge Shanahan took the oath of o ffice as a United States District Judge on December 3, 1993. When he was sworn in, his duty station was designated as Lincoln, Nebraska. It now appears that it is in the interests of the government, and not primarily for the convenience of Judge Shanahan that Omaha, Nebraska, be designated his duty station, and that he maintain his place of abode at or near Omaha, Nebraska. Accordingly, and with all active district judges having agreed, pursuant to 28 U.s.C. 134(c), IT IS ORDERED that United States District Judge Thomas M. Shanaahan shall assume his duty station in Omaha, Nebraska, and maintain his place of abode at or near Omaha, Nebraska, as soon as reasonably possible. DATED this 6th day of April, 1994. BY THE COURT: (signed) LYLE E STROM, Chief Judge United States District Court
